Congratulations Odyssey of the Mind teams
Congratulations to all four of our Odyssey of the Minds teams who competed with over 1000 other students in Eastern Regional competition on March 6th in Chapel Hill. This was Laurel Park's first participation in Odyssey of the Mind. Two of our teams placed second and have advanced to the State Finals on April 10th at Wingate University-near Charlotte.
The following students competed:
Nature Trailer, won second place in their division:
Adam Long, Troy Leighton, Vineet Bhardwaj, Rohith Iyer, Danielle Carr, and Max Goolsbey
Column Structure A, won second place in their division:
Alex Weiss, TJ Weiss, Evan Reyer, Colin Reyer, Amany Amra, David Schattner, and Olivia Schilling
Column Structure B, placed fifth in their division:
Stefan Dybka, Logan Wells, Avi Sukhrami, Alex Shuster, Dale Shuster, and Harrison Duncan
Food Court, placed tenth in their division:
Emma Goodtree, Kiah Baloch, Divya Bhatnager, Cassidy Thibault, and Rachel Boling
Special thanks to our chair for the program, Samantha Klinge. Also, thank you to all the coaches, volunteers and parents who supported these teams. This accomplishment was truly a team effort!

2nd Annual Spring Fun Run
Tracks 3 & 4: March 26th Tracks 1 & 2: April 9th
The run will take place from 9:30 - 11am. The Fun Committee is looking for volunteers to hand out rubber bands as kids complete laps and hand out fruit and water. We also need 2 tents that we can use for both days. Contact Keri McCauley to volunteer.
Book Fair Volunteers Needed
The Laurel
Park Media
Center will be hosting the
Bedford Falls
book fair from April 19-April 30. The
proceeds from the book fair will fund author visits. In order to effectively run this event we
will need volunteers to assist with set-up, take-down, and check-out. Set up will be the morning of April 19thand take-down will be the morning of April 30th. Any available time you have is appreciated,
although we will be looking to fill two hour time slots as much as
possible. If you will be able to assist

Snack Bank is running low! Please consider donating! |

The PTA with the help of Ms. Sapir would like to start a Snack Bank. We are asking you to donate individually sealed snacks (labeled for the Snack Bank) that could be given to children who forget their snack or do not have a healthy snack. Please send in items that do not have to be refrigerated. Some ideas are: Cheese crackers, pretzels, applesauce, pudding, granola bars and fruit cups. |
Shade Structres for our playgrounds coming soon!!!
Don't forget.... to register your Harris Teeter VIC (7155) and Food Lion MVP (Laurel Park Elementary PTA) cards either on-line or in-store. Purchases made can benefit the Laurel Park PTA which funds school-based events!!!
