Reflections
REFLECTIONS 2009 PTA Art Competition – Theme: “Beauty is…”
This fall, 37 students from Laurel Park Elementary participated in the national PTA’s annual art competition, “Reflections”. These talented students created 45 works of art, many of which are displayed throughout the school.
LPE’s participation level was fabulous this year, and each work of student art was wonderful! The
county level competition limits the number of entries to be submitted
to 12 per grade level division (12 total from Primary Division/Grades
K-2 + 12 total from Intermediate Division/Grades 3-5).* Of the 24 entries were sent on to the Wake County level, 3 Laurel Park students received recognition awards:
Simone Khandpekar - Primary Division (K-2) - FILM - 2nd Place - Wake County
Marlene Fasolt - Intermediate Division (Gr 3-5) - FILM - 2nd Place - Wake County
Evan Reyer - Intermediate Division (Gr 3-5) - PHOTOGRAPHY - 3rd Place Tie - Wake County
All Laurel Park student participants will be honored in a special celebration at school this winter. Congratulations to all! The imagination and creativity of our young students is an inspiration!

Snack Bank |
|
The PTA with the help of Ms. Sapir would like to start a Snack Bank. We are asking you to donate individually sealed snacks (labeled for the Snack Bank) that could be given to children who forget their snack or do not have a healthy snack. Please send in items that do not have to be refrigerated. Some ideas are: Cheese crackers, pretzels, applesauce, pudding, granola bars and fruit cups. |
Don't forget.... to register your Harris Teeter VIC (7155) and Food Lion MVP (Laurel Park Elementary PTA) cards either on-line or in-store. Purchases made can benefit the Laurel Park PTA which funds school-based events!!!

With one year of experience now under our belt, the PTA hopes to make this year even better! Of course, that can only happen with your help. There are three things that we ask of our Laurel Park families:MEMBERSHIP - Please sign up for a PTA Membership! We would like to reach our goal of 100%. VOLUNTEERING - Please don’t forget to sign up to volunteer both in the classroom and with the PTA. You can register to volunteer on the computers in the media center during school hours. FUNDRAISING – This is an extremely important part of the PTA. We are only able to offer programs with the support of our families and their fundraising. In light of the difficulties with the Wake County budget, it has become more significant now than ever!Thank you for your continued support. We’re looking forward to another fantastic year at Laurel Park Elementary! If you have any questions or suggestions for this year, please contact me at kim.trezona@jostens.com.
